Currently I'd Rather Be: Warm

So I just wanted to give a quick post about Vegas. It was awesome. I'd so do it again. I won money, saw good shows, lived luxuriously for a few days, jumped out of a plane, and survived... everything. Everyone reading this was probably already there or has read another blog about the trip so I'll spare you (and my fingers) the details. But first... memories online!

So question of the post: Are you taking a snow day tomorrow?

Currently Thinking About: That I've never posted twice in a row
Currently I'd Rather Be: Less Sore

OK, OK, OK. Amanda did it so I guess I'll go Myspace/Facebook on this blog.

10 Thing You Might Not Know About Me

01: I used to teach aerobics in college
02: I have a splinter in my hand from when I was like 8
03: I have a thing for a sexy neck (yeah I needed at least one sex related one)
04: I've met 9 people in real life after only knowing them online
05: I weighed under 100 pounds when I started college
06: I almost doubled my weight in 3 years
07: I have a habit of playing with the seam of my shirt when idle
08: I was hit by a car and the driver looked like Saddam (with the cigar even)
09: I've gone to the Phillipines twice, got a bloody nose the first time and passed out in my morning fried rice the second.
10: This is probably the 3rd thing like this I've ever filled out.

So question of the post: Who's next?

Currently I'd Rather Be: In a warmer place

It seems like I've been too busy to post recently. I always think I should but am too busy at work to do it and then I've been keeping pretty busy outside of work. You'd think I'd have a lot of updates but there aren't many. I've gone home too many weekends recently to remember but I guess the last visit was eventful. Dramatic night that actually included being in a Jersey diner at 3 in the morning listening to rednecks make jokes about "orientals". My sister was vocally pissed. I'll tell you one thing too, you never want to get on the bad side of a pissed 5'(2" she corrected me...) tall Asian girl.

Let me tell you a story about my sister for those of you who haven't heard it. I'll never have to play the over protective big brother to my sister's suitors. When she was in 5th grade, a boy who was a year older than her decided he wanted to hit on her. Apparently she wasn't having it because she pushed the guy out of his desk, flipped the desk on top of him, and then emptied the books out on him as well. Now imagine this girl older, after living her adult life in Pittsburgh, teaching in the ghettos of that city and now PISSED about the fact that racism still exists. Her next words after the comment were "What the **** was that?! Yeah, keep walking, Guido. Greasy *** with your gold dollar sign necklace." The guy wouldn't even look at her....

In lighter news, I took a Hip Hop class yesterday. I thought I'd do something to get my out of the house during the week. It was either that or Photography class and I figured the dance class was more social and a healthier alternative. It was a good class. All girls then me doesn't hurt but damn my abs and legs hurt! It's not like I'm going to break out in some J Lo routine in the middle of a dance club but it's fun none the less.

So question of the post: Where'd the warm weather go?

Currently I'd Rather Be: Rested

I swear the end of the world is coming. Something about not knowing the seasons of the year? Well I think today is a great example of that! I mean I start the day out cold needing to defrost my windows. Then I turn around and what do I see but a friggin blizzard outside my window! Half an hour later it's all sunny outside, and then shortly after that I go out to my car and feel the need to remove the jacket. It's like, it's cold! I want to stay in bed... It's snowing! Maybe I should go home early and avoid the fugnuts who can't drive in the DC metro area. It's sunny! I want to go home and work from my balcony. It's warm! Don't you just want to take the rest of the day off and golf or something? Whatever it is, I don't think I should be working today...

So question of the post: When do I get to snowboard?!

 Indirect Resolutions
 Sunday, January 06, 2008
Currently Listening To: I Got It From My Mama
Currently Thinking About: Distractions
Currently I'd Rather Be: Fit

So I don't know if they are actually resolutions but today seemed like a lot of resolutions going on. So Patrick, Kim, and I went hiking today. Patrick's either received or bought quite a few hiking type things that I'll let him post about (let's hope he posts) but I guess he was all excited about his new toys because he wanted to go hiking. You can call this trip all sorts of resolutions:

1 - Become more knowledgeable in scholastic topics
2 - Don't waste away the weekends in front of the TV
3 - Exercise more
4 - Spend less money

So we did 10.7 miles (well 5.35 but we had to get back too!) of the Appalachian Trail that brought us passed the scenic Washington Monument which had a lot of historical facts about our first President. It got me out of the house and got me working my ass off through those trails. And since I was walking somewhere other than a retail establishment, I saved buko bucks. Before I go again, I need to make a few mental notes:

1 - Ditch the sweat shirt: I've done a crap load of hiking this year and I've brought my sweat shirt all the times since October and I've never used it. It just adds 5 pounds (crucial!) and you end up looking like a prep from the 80's with the thing tied around your waist.

2 - Get hiking shoes: This trail had a lot of rocks that poke up out of the ground and my sneaks just weren't cutting it. The thin soles basically protected the balls of my feet and not much else in that terrain.

3 - Get longer legs: Keeping up with the jolly green giant is hard when you have midget legs. I think I was keeping up strides but my strides were not nearly as long over that distance. Longer legs are sooo doable now a days too. :P

4 - Get in better shape: Yeah, this was a hard work out today. All that uphill climbing and trying to keep up just sucked. I'm not THAT bad. I DID have a lot of valid excuses (see points 1 to 3).

All in all it was a good day though. I did get a good work out and a lot of fresh air. The fresh air I definitely do remember as I was hyper ventilating up that hill.

So question of the post: Who played Wii instead of watching football today?

 I Need a Hero!

Currently Listening To: That hippity hop music
Currently Thinking About: Buying thermal underwear
Currently I'd Rather Be: In a warmer room

So a lot of us have been playing Guitar Hero since the 3rd installment came out and some of us have been lucky to even rock out with Rock Band. We've also had some conversations where we think it would be awesome to have a game that actually taught you how to play a real guitar. Well gossip no more! A game is on the way! Granted, this game seems more of a online tutor than a fast paced game, it definitely is a stepping stone towards a more realistic Guitar Hero.

The Deets

Also, in case you need a role model while playing GH3, check out this kid!

So question of the post: What's your top score?

Currently Listening To: A co-worker gossiping down the hall
Currently Thinking About: The fact I had the day off and still came in
Currently I'd Rather Be: Sleeping

So it's that time again! The dawn of another year! The time when people realize one simple fact: We're all quitters! Yes, yes. This is the time we strive to be better, to make those stands that we are better than this. For example, I'll share my two resolutions and I'm sure I'll post again in a month saying I don't care anymore.

Resolution 1: Get a six pack by the next Slide and Slide. Seems simple enough right? It's how many months away and I got plenty of time to trade this Clipper City six pack in for a Chiseled City one. Here in lies the problem, it takes a lot of effort to get to that gym frequently and watch your diet and drink less (Wait, Did I say drink... gulp... less?) Riiiight, let's move to resolution 2.

Resolution 2: Post more often to keep everyone up to date. Now this is more my style. Just log in and post. How hard is that? Pfft, I give it a month. I do need to make an effort though because I am getting really bad at the consistent posting and there are cities that are kicking my blog's ass in the charm department. (At least I update more often than annually.)

One tip about resolutions: Start date should be 1/10. All the drinking, eating, hangovers, traveling, adjusting to work again... you can't be expected to jump on the resolution and keep it like that! By the 10th you're at a good point to calmly start your effort. So I'll be starting on the 11th. :)

Anyway, in other news since I've been adding Ben Gay for far too long and since Jenn
has been complaining of technical difficulties with my site, I guess I'll give an update.

I've been good. I spent just over a month in Rhode Island working so that was different. Kinda cool just to say that I traveled for work finally. It was also a lot of flying back and forth and I'm no longer flustered at the airport. (11/5 was the second time I've flown since 9/11.)

I went to the Dane Cook concert which was AWESOME! I have a picture of when I met him and I also sat third row. I'll post a pic soon on that.

The holiday was good. I spent all from 12/22 to 1/2 off which was so sweet after all the work I have been doing. I went home for Christmas and was pretty much there the whole week. A lot of drinking, a lot of family, a lot of drinking because of a lot of family, and then home to hang with friends and other loved ones.

Aaaaand I think that about wraps it up. If you made it passed the gauntlet of links off this post and are still reading, Congratulations! You win a new ca... wait I don't have that to give away. Congratulations! You're as bored as I was before I posted this!

So question of the post: What's your New Years Resolution?

And we have another win under our belts! This time it's an ACC win! Damn noon games mean breakfast and beer and a LOT of drinking after the game. Big-ups to Maryland for the win, big-ups to Jim for bringing back the Shocker, and big-ups to Katie for the nacho buffalo cheese goodness.

So Julie got this crazy new camera with iPod-esque controls. It's the same as mine but some crazy updated version. I really have camera envy. Anyway, even with my out of date camera, as always, PICS!!!!!

So we walked straight into #10 ranked Rutgers and totally handed out cans of whoop ass. I was honestly really upset... that Rutgers fans left before we got back to the tail gate. There was one guy there that was trashing talking with "How's it feel to be a 2 digit point spread underdog?" Well, sir, I say to you, "How's it feel to blow a 2 digit point spread by... 2 digits?!"

Our hosts were awesome. I actually think there were more Terps in the group than Knights but it was a good time. Speaking of tail gates.. holy geez! They really cram you in there. You have your area which is pretty much room for a tent and a grill behind your car and you're pretty much butting up against someone else tent and grill. I kept joking that it was like a Shanghai Slum where you look out of your window and look right into someone else's. You'll have to check out some shots in the gallery of how empty the lot is at noon but how many people they still insist on cramming into a small space. You can't blame Rutgers I guess. It's not like they've had years of good football to get the tail gating right yet. (Oh Snap!)

Still good times though. We made a crap load of new friends, trashed talked every person that had to walk through our tail gate to get anywhere, kicked ass 6 to 2 in beer bongs, had great food. Check out the pics. Videos soon...
